Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8th- May 12th, where we honor the amazing educators who drive the future leaders of tomorrow!

Most schools choose a theme to celebrate and decorate for that week. This fun, baseball theme is what a local preschool in Avon Lake chose for their “All Star” staff! We had the privilege of designing and making baseball jersey shirts for all the teachers at Cornerstone Preschool. They were surprised and thrilled! They will be wearing them at their school-wide Sports Day in May as well.

 

These are a great example of how we extend much farther than just sports teams. Let us create unique, custom shirts for your next family vacation, reunion, race/walk, or company events.

Spring Sports Season Is Here

Snow melting and temperatures rising are two sure signs that the spring sports season is arriving soon. Excited, cooped up kids are getting ready to move back outside for sports, whether it be baseball, softball, soccer, track, field hockey, and lacrosse. Kids aren’t the only ones gearing up though. There’s a lot more to being the parent of a spring sports player than just showing up. It’s the preparation, the planning, the managing, the schedules, the carpools, and the stress!

Take a deep breath and check out these pro tips from veteran parents:

• Print a calendar in the kitchen for the whole family to easily see (Highlight in different colors for multiple kids)
•  Simple meals are key (mac and cheese and hot dogs or easy crock pot recipes)
• Lay out uniforms and gear the night before  (Cubbies that can hang in their rooms with each day of the week are a great idea for kids to easily grab what stuff is needed for which day)
• Kids will follow your lead (If you’re stressed and frantic, they will be too. They won’t remember bring late for a practice or losing a game, but they’ll remember the ice cream runs or the sleep overs)
• Don’t wish the time away (It will be hectic… until it’s gone. ENJOY the practices, the games, the travel, the memories along the way)

Respect is not given, it’s earned

Now that spring sports season is in full swing, we’d like to recognize one of our clients who make all these games happen. Respect The Ref was founded by John Mandula to promote the positive influence officials have on sports. They strive to recruit new officials, retain current officials, and recognize officials for their outstanding service to the game.

Refs give of their time with often little pay and yet face negative attention in almost every game. We must remember as a parent, how you interact with the referee can make a big impact on your athlete. How we conduct ourselves and how we role model behavior to our children really matters. The nasty remarks or yelling matches simply aren’t worth it. Remind yourself (and your kid) that it’s supposed to be about fun, development, improvement and making memories.  Best of luck this season and remember, respect your ref!

A cause to smile about

Our owner and his wife attended a fundraiser event Tuesday night for a local, startup they are passionate about. I’m Possible Games is a nonprofit, board game cafe established to build a community of acceptance, encouragement and awareness for individuals of intellectual disabilities. Their mission is to provide an opportunity for employment growth, support and socialization.
